LCHBA Education Homes Foundation
"Our Mission is to create education in association with our local schools and help our local government develop and build affordable housing."

The LCHBA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Non Profit, born from the foresight of Kent Thurston with KT Homes and Nicole Black with the New Mexico Construction Alliance, that represents a transformative shift towards addressing educational gaps for middle and high school students. Understanding that the traditional college pathway isn't suited for everyone, the foundation promotes vocational training as a rewarding alternative, equipping young people with practical construction skills.
This initiative offers hands-on learning experiences, emphasizing the value of trade skills and providing an alternative route to success without the financial burdens of college debt. Nicole Black's leadership at the New Mexico Construction Alliance, further propels this mission through events such as Build My Future, which connects students with industry professionals, providing invaluable exposure to the home building industry and fostering a new generation of skilled tradespeople. The foundation provides the tools and skills necessary for students to succeed in the trades. Students who assist in the build of the education homes are provided with a 10-hour OSHA training, and a fully equipped toolbelt. We also seek out pre-apprenticeship and scholarship opportunities as well as host contests and events for our youth to participate in to help enrich and encompass their education in the trades.
The foundation's success owes much to the dedication of educators whose persistence overcame bureaucratic challenges to bring this initiative to life. By reinvesting proceeds from the sale of student-built homes, the foundation aims to expand its reach, ensuring more students can benefit from this real-world educational opportunity that fosters achievement and community involvement. We welcome sponsors to help these students find their way to a successful career in the skilled trades.
